Red Ribbon Week is just around the corner!  More information and supplies

will be delivered to your classroom on Friday, October 20th.

Monday, October 22nd - Red Ribbon kick-off day!  Special message from Joyce.

Today’s activities:  Pledge cards go home to the parents.  Students are encouraged to sign and return the pledge cards and wear red tomorrow.  The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a “Drug-Free America” and to develop an attitude of “zero” tolerance to the use of illegal drugs.  We have a lot of activities in store for the students, so please encourage them to “wear red” and to be proud!  Each day they wear red, they will receive a special prize!

Tuesday, October 23rd – Red Wristband day!  Special message from Joyce.

Today’s activities:  Students will receive a red wristband today.  Remind students of the saying on their wristbands, “Drug Use is Life Abuse” to show the world they are making a pledge to stay away from drugs.  Ask students to wear red socks or clothing tomorrow to show them that they are “socking it” to tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.  Local business are giving away special prizes and discounts to students who wear their wristbands, teachers will have a list posted in their classroom.

Wednesday, October 24th – Wacky Wednesday!  Special message from Joyce.

Today’s activities:  Wednesday is “Wacky Wednesday”.  Students will receive a bookmarker today.  Ask students to wear their shirts backwards on Thursday.  Wearing red and receiving red prizes are two ways to remind students that “Red Ribbon Week” is a time to pledge to live healthy and drug-free!

Thursday, October 25th – “Turn Your Back to Drugs Day”  Special message from Joyce.

Today’s activities:  Wearing their shirts backwards is to show the world they are “turning their backs to drugs”.  Students will receive pencils today.  Since Friday is sprit wear day, they do not have to wear red on Friday.

Friday, October 26th – “Red Apple Day”  Special message from Joyce.

Each student will receive a red apple to conclude and thank them for taking part in Red Ribbon Week.  There is a Red Ribbon Fall Festival at the City Hall this Saturday, October 27th from 9:00am-1:00pm.  Join your police department and recreation and community services division in saying “Boo” to drugs.   We hope you will participate in school and community Red Ribbon activities and build from awareness to action!

Volunteer Email Request

Dear Red Ribbon Week volunteers:

Thank you for volunteering to help with the Red Ribbon Week festivities.  Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated October 23rd-27th at Courreges. Students will be receiving a letter in the Monday envelope next week regarding Red Ribbon Week.   I have a lot of fun activities in store for the students, so I will need all your help to make this happen!

I am looking for volunteers to help me on the following days:

Friday, October 20th at 10:00am

I need volunteers to help sort and distribute supplies to the faculty.  Students will be given a prize each day they wear to school during the Red Ribbon Week.  I will need volunteers to assist with sorting pencils, red bands, book markers, etc. for each class.  The bags need to distributed to the faculty.  This should only take about 1 hour if we have a lot volunteers.

Monday, October 23rd at 6:30am

I need volunteers to help decorate the fence along the Kindergarten yard and EPS buildings.  Balloons will need to blown up, bows need to be tied and also banners need to be hung. Should only take about 45 mins, you should have enough time to pick up your child and drop them off at school.

Thursday, October 26th at 9:00am

I need volunteers to help sort all 650 apples into bags that also need to distributed to classrooms. Please keep in mind, early bird Kindergarteners leave at 11:00am. I was hoping to have them ready for recess at 10:00am.

If you are able to assist on any of these days please let me know.    Thank you again for assisting me with Red Ribbon Week!!

Also, if you know of anyone else that would like to help, please bring them along!! Thank you!!!

Sincerely,
