Re: 2009/10 5th Grade Outdoor Education

Great News!! Our 4th graders are now scheduled for their week-long outdoor education camp the week of April 12 – 16, 2010. The cost for the camp is $225, and the estimated cost of the bus ride is $38, for a total of $263. Remember, each family is responsible for these costs. Between now and December, we will have three more fundraising opportunities to help off-set the costs of this program.

Our 4th graders are off to a great start. Thank you to everyone that participated in our first fundraiser with Great American. We had over forty 4th grade students participating in this fundraiser, which earned the class over $3,000 toward our goal. Many students raised enough money to cover their $50 deposit. You can continue to order online through Great American, but any profit earned will go into the general fund.

By now, everyone should have at least $50 in their account earned through the fundraiser or as a payment into their account. Each child has a separate account which is being tracked and monitored by Melissa and Marcela and all proceeds from that child’s fundraising efforts, as well as any straight deposits, will be credited directly to that child.

Our next fundraiser will be with Main Street Cookie Dough and it will be starting on April 24. Following that we will be asking that each child planning on attending outdoor camp have a minimum of $100 in their account by June 1, 2009. There will also be a Sally Foster/Entertainment book & another Main Street Cookie Dough fundraiser in the fall. Please note that your child is not required to attend the Outdoor Science Program, and
regular classroom instruction will be offered at Courreges during the week it is scheduled. And finally, please let us know if you’ve decided that your child won’t be attending.

If you have any questions about camp, fundraising, or anything else, please contact Melissa at liss@mac.com or Marcela at CurtissMarcela@msn.com. We will be having a parent meeting at Open House in May to answer any additional questions.
